FemiPro Microbiome Balance: Five Strains, 50 mg and No Printed CFU

Quick answer

FemiPro microbiome balance is a line on the front of the bottle: "Microbiome Balance". Behind it sit five Lactobacillus strains that share one 50 mg blend, about 10 mg each on average. The label prints no CFU count, and no trial of these capsules has been published.

The claim01

What does FemiPro microbiome balance mean?

FemiPro microbiome balance is a marketing line, "Microbiome Balance", printed on the bottle with an asterisk. It points to the probiotic half of the capsule. It is not a measured result.

A microbiome is the community of bacteria that lives in one part of the body. The claim does not say which community. The label gives no site, no test and no outcome.

The asterisk leads to the FDA statement: the line has not been evaluated by the agency, and the product is not meant to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease (21 CFR 101.93, structure/function claims). That wording is standard for structure and function claims. It also tells you the line is a description, not proof.

The strains02

How much probiotic is in one FemiPro capsule?

One FemiPro capsule holds a 50 mg Probiotic Blend, listed beside a 350 mg herbal blend. Five strains share that 50 mg, and the label prints no amount for any single strain.

The strains are listed by weight, heaviest first. That caps each one. The first can weigh at most 50 mg, the second 25 mg, the third 16.7 mg, the fourth 12.5 mg and the fifth 10 mg. On average each strain gets 10 mg.

Herbal blend ceilings

  1. 1Mimosa pudica seed extract≤ 350 mg
  2. 2Cranberry extract (30% PAC)≤ 175 mg
  3. 3Bearberry leaf (uva-ursi)≤ 116.7 mg
  4. 4Berberine hydrochloride extract 8%≤ 87.5 mg

Probiotic strain ceilings

  1. 1Lactobacillus crispatus LCr86≤ 50 mg
  2. 2Lactobacillus acidophilus LA88≤ 25 mg
  3. 3Lactobacillus plantarum N13≤ 16.7 mg
  4. 4Lactobacillus gasseri LG08≤ 12.5 mg
  5. 5Lactobacillus casei LC16≤ 10 mg

Step 1. The label prints two totals only: 350 mg for the "UTI Herbal Blend" and 50 mg for the "Probiotic Blend".

Step 2. A blend lists its lines from most to least by weight, so line k can weigh at most the total divided by k.

Step 3. So cranberry is at most 175 mg (at most about 52 mg of PACs at 30%), berberine extract at most 87.5 mg, and the five strains average 10 mg with no CFU count.

These are our sums from the label, not lab results. A blend has to list its total and its order, not single amounts (21 CFR 101.36, supplement labeling).

Those are ceilings, not amounts. Powder also includes carrier material, so the living cells are only part of the weight. Probiotic studies dose in CFU, which counts viable cells, and the label gives none (21 CFR 101.36, supplement labeling).

The research03

Does research support microbiome balance from a capsule?

Research supports the idea of a healthy vaginal community, but not the claim that a swallowed capsule balances it. The two ideas are different, and the gap between them is the heart of this label.

In healthy women the vaginal community is often dominated by Lactobacillus crispatus, and that pattern is linked to fewer problems (Ravel et al. 2011, vaginal microbiome). FemiPro lists L. crispatus LCr86 first. A trial of a vaginal product, Lactin-V, found bacterial vaginosis came back in 30% of users against 45% on placebo (Cohen et al. 2020 NEJM, Lactin-V and bacterial vaginosis). That product was placed in the vagina, not swallowed.

For urinary infections the picture is weaker. A Cochrane review found no significant fall in UTIs from probiotics overall (Cochrane 2015, probiotics for preventing UTIs). A vaginal crispatus trial saw recurrent UTIs in 15% against 27%, a gap that did not reach significance (Stapleton et al. 2011, L. crispatus and recurrent UTI).

Work on bacteria in urine is so far descriptive. It shows associations, not that adding strains changes leaks (Govender 2019, urinary microbiome and UI).

The gaps04

What is missing behind the microbiome claim?

Four things are missing behind the microbiome claim: a CFU count, strain-level proof, a swallowed-capsule trial and a stated site of action. Each one matters on its own.

Microbiome Balance: what is printed and what is not
DetailStatus
Five strain namesPrinted
Total probiotic weight (50 mg)Printed
Weight of each strainNot printed
CFU count per capsuleNot printed
Human trial of strains LA88, N13, LG08 or LC16None found
Trial of the FemiPro capsuleNone published

Probiotic effects are strain-specific, so a result for one strain does not carry over to another (NCCIH, Probiotics: usefulness and safety). People with severe illness or weak immunity face higher risk and should ask a clinician first. The probiotic blend page has the strain table.

What to do05

How should you judge the Microbiome Balance claim?

Judge it as a hope, not a result. Take it as the maker's description of the probiotic half, and keep your own expectations modest.

If you try FemiPro, note your symptoms before you start and keep a bladder diary. Pelvic floor training and bladder training stay the first steps for leaks. Keep taking prescribed medicine. The 60-day guarantee gives you a window to decide. Read the FemiPro benefits review for the other two claims.

FAQ06

FemiPro microbiome questions, answered

Does FemiPro list how many CFU it contains?

No. The Supplement Facts panel prints a 50 mg Probiotic Blend and five strain names, with no CFU count. Without it you cannot compare the capsule to products used in studies.

Which bacteria are in FemiPro?

Lactobacillus crispatus LCr86, L. acidophilus LA88, L. plantarum N13, L. gasseri LG08 and L. casei LC16, in that order. The order shows weight rank, not exact amounts.

Can FemiPro probiotics reach the vagina?

The label does not say. The capsule is swallowed, and the vaginal trials we found used products placed in the vagina. No study shows these strains travel there from a capsule.
